The foundation year serves as a pathway to undergraduate studies. Completing this introductory year successfully ensures your spot in the BSc pre-registration program for Sport Rehabilitation within health and social care. Throughout this course, you'll cultivate independent learning skills while building academic foundations, while also gaining the professional confidence essential for a healthcare career through hands-on activities, collaborative projects, and teamwork.
From individual athletes to full sports teams, beginners to elite competitors, and youth players to seasoned professionals—this program prepares you with specialized rehabilitation expertise for all activity levels. As a Graduate Sport Rehabilitator (GSR), you'll train as a first-response practitioner capable of pitch-side emergency care, with qualifications to evaluate and manage musculoskeletal injuries from initial trauma. The curriculum strongly emphasizes injury prevention and exercise-based recovery, including sport-specific rehabilitation plans, performance optimization, and health improvement strategies for injured or medically compromised individuals. Our Institute of Health and Social Care houses one of the nation's largest Schools of Allied and Community Health, offering cutting-edge facilities and a supportive learning community. Additional opportunities include certification as a Sports Massage Therapist and completion of the RFU-accredited Pre-Hospital Immediate Care in Sport (Level 2) course.
