A PhD program focuses entirely on research. Each doctoral project represents the distinct evolution of your personal research initiative, undertaken with mentorship from at least two faculty supervisors specializing in your field.
You can undertake PhD research in any University-approved discipline where faculty expertise aligns with your proposed study. Interdisciplinary projects are encouraged. The University offers a structured research environment with close supervision and regular progress assessments. Distance learning PhD options are also available through London Met.
Earning a PhD involves creating novel contributions to your field. This demands comprehensive understanding of existing literature, strong analytical abilities to evaluate research findings, self-discipline, and significant time commitment.
While the program contains no formal coursework, you'll receive research methodology training and may enroll in relevant master's-level courses. Additionally, you can simultaneously pursue a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education Teaching.
Our vibrant research community offers numerous opportunities. The University is currently expanding its research investments. Through the Graduate School, you'll access professional development events, academic conferences, lecture series, and present your work at our annual Student-Staff Research Conference.
