The Mathematics (including foundation year) BSc (Hons) is a four-year program featuring an integrated foundation year (Year 0), perfect for students who lack the standard entry requirements. This IMA-accredited foundation program equips you with essential mathematical skills and practical work experience, preparing you for a successful career in mathematics-related fields.
Our Mathematics (including foundation year) BSc (Hons) starts with an introductory year focused on developing your academic confidence and core competencies. This initial phase ensures you acquire all fundamental knowledge required to excel throughout the remainder of your studies.
The foundation year curriculum is shared with other foundation programs, exposing you to diverse subjects like cyber security, computer networks, mathematics, and programming. This interdisciplinary approach helps establish a solid mathematical foundation.
Should your interests shift during the foundation year, you'll have the flexibility to specialize in alternative areas of mathematics or computing.

Qualification Requirements
In addition to the University's standard entry requirements, you should have:
at least one A level (or a minimum of 32 UCAS points from an equivalent Level 3 qualification, eg BTEC Subsidiary/National/BTEC Extended Diploma)
English Language and Mathematics GCSEs at grade C (grade 4) or above (or equivalent, eg Functional Skills at Level 2)
Applicants who meet the UCAS points criteria but who obtained a grade D/grade 3 in English and/or Maths at GCSE may be offered a University test in these areas.
