The MPhys Astrophysics program is jointly offered by distinguished faculty from Liverpool John Moores University and the University of Liverpool.
For those passionate about exploring one of science's most demanding and fundamental disciplines within a top-ranked UK physics department, the MPhys Astrophysics degree offers exceptional preparation for careers in physics research or astronomy.
World-renowned academics will guide your studies while you utilize specialized facilities at both institutions, featuring a dedicated astrophysics teaching lab. Access to multiple observatories allows you to refine astronomical measurement techniques and work with cutting-edge detector systems. During your second year, you can choose between a week-long stay at Tenerife's Tedie Observatory or a research project at the Astrophysics Research Institute.
Your final year includes privileged access to LJMU's robotic two-meter Liverpool Telescope - the world's largest of its kind - located on La Palma in the Canary Islands. Additionally, you'll have opportunities to operate our urban observatory's advanced 12-inch computerized telescope.
