We invite applications from individuals pursuing PhD research opportunities.
The Integrated PhD in Statistics is designed for candidates with academic promise for doctoral studies in Statistics but requiring additional foundational knowledge. This four-year program combines MSc-level coursework and a dissertation in the first year before advancing to PhD research.
Our Statistics Group focuses on developing innovative statistical approaches driven by real-world applications, particularly in environmental science, biomedicine, and social sciences. Key methodological expertise includes stochastic modeling, computational statistics, time series analysis, extreme value theory, clinical trial methodology, nonparametric regression, functional data analysis, and statistical learning. We emphasize the connection between theoretical development and practical implementation, maintaining strong collaborative ties with university departments, healthcare institutions, pharmaceutical firms, and research organizations both in the UK and internationally.
Doctoral candidates will receive personalized supervision while contributing to their chosen research field. Complementary research training courses will enhance their skills and professional growth. Additionally, students may gain valuable teaching experience and supplemental income through teaching assistant roles in our academic programs.
