We invite candidates interested in pursuing PhD research in Physics to apply. Our program offers research possibilities across theoretical and experimental domains, organized into four main divisions: Astrophysics, Accelerator and Particle Physics, Experimental Condensed Matter, and Theoretical Physics.

Active collaboration between divisions fosters innovative work in areas like graphene and molecular nanowire research, liquid helium-based cosmology experiments, biological rhythm nonlinear dynamics, IR spectroscopy, and nanoscale biological imaging.

Our programs focus on cultivating valuable transferable skills including analytical reasoning, effective communication, numerical proficiency, writing ability, collaboration, and computational expertise - all highly sought after by employers. Additionally, students can participate in specialized training courses and the Faculty of Science and Technology Research Training Program.

Qualification Requirements

2:1 Hons degree (UK or equivalent) in Physics, ideally supplemented by a relevant Master's-level qualification. We normally require an IELTS (Academic) Test with an overall score of at least 6.5, and a minimum of 5.5 in each element of the test. ToEFL IBT or ToEFL Home Edition with an overall score of at least 87, with a minimum of 18 in reading, 17 in listening, 17 in speaking and 20 in writing.
