Synthesis forms the foundation of chemistry, driving the design, development, and analysis of molecules and materials that are central to chemical research in every field. Lancaster's synthetic chemistry group brings together diverse yet complementary skills, specializing in organic, organometallic, and materials synthesis, further enhanced by our studies in coordination and supramolecular chemistry.
We leverage our growing research infrastructure to support the creation, analysis, and property evaluation of new compounds, along with uncovering reaction mechanisms. While rooted in fundamental science, our research also targets practical applications across various industries.

Qualification Requirements
2:1 Hons degree (UK or equivalent) in Chemistry, or an equivalent degree in a related discipline such as Physics or Chemical Engineering, appropriate to the proposed research project. We normally require an IELTS (Academic) Test with an overall score of at least 6.5, and a minimum of 6.0 in each element of the test. ToEFL IBT or ToEFL IBT Home Edition with an overall score of at least 87, with a minimum of 19 in reading, 19 in listening, 19 in speaking and 22 in writing
