Our MSci Hons Cyber Security degree prepares students to become future cyber security systems engineers and architects. The curriculum builds upon our foundational computer science program, delivering a robust education in both theoretical and practical aspects of modern computing.
The MSci Hons Cyber Security specialization introduces key security concepts including penetration testing, digital forensics, cryptography, network protection, and resilient systems. Students explore cutting-edge topics like autonomous system security, AI protection, cyber-physical system safeguards, and security metrics - all informed by our School of Computing and Communications' renowned research.
The first year establishes core disciplinary principles with contemporary applications. Students develop practical skills through modules like Software Development, Computer Science Fundamentals, and Digital Systems. The program emphasizes hands-on learning, requiring students to construct, analyze, and refine systems based on user feedback. Alongside technical growth, students examine the social, ethical, and professional dimensions of the field.
