Projects are crucial for numerous organizations. This program equips you with project management methodologies, stakeholder engagement strategies, and comprehensive project insights. You'll examine real-world project management approaches from engineering firms and implement your acquired skills through collaborative projects with industry partners.
Developed through a partnership between Lancaster University's Management School and School of Engineering, this course caters to engineers and technically-oriented students seeking project management expertise within engineering contexts.
The curriculum features four foundational modules covering project management principles, including one project-based component. These establish essential competencies for engineering project planning, execution, and completion, organizational change implementation, and team leadership. The modules also explore projects' strategic business implications and analyze various organizational frameworks.
An industry-focused module features corporate case studies and guest speakers demonstrating practical applications of management theories. This is followed by a condensed (3-week) industry group project, typically addressing real company challenges with multidisciplinary engineering teams. This practical component allows participants to refine and demonstrate their project management capabilities.
