The Doctor of Medicine program offers clinically trained individuals the chance to complete a two-year doctoral research project at Lancaster University.
Through our partnerships with Lancaster Medical School and numerous NHS trusts, students gain access to diverse medical research possibilities. Each candidate receives guidance from both a clinical supervisor and an academic advisor from either Biomedical and Life Sciences or the Medical School.

Qualification Requirements
Applicants must (i) hold a medical or dental qualification recognised by the UK General Medical/Dental Council, (ii) must have held this qualification for at least three years by the date of submission, and (iii) must be employed during their period of registration in appropriate clinical or scientific work in hospitals or institutions (associated with the University) within the local NHS region.
IELTS: At least 6.5 overall (minimum element scores apply). ToEFL IBT or ToEFL IBT Home Edition with an overall score of at least 87, with a minimum of 19 in reading, 17 in listening, 17 in speaking and 20 in writing
