Chemists excel at solving complex problems and applying analytical reasoning, playing a pivotal role in shaping today's society. The Study Abroad initiative offers a culturally diverse learning environment while building versatile competencies to advance your professional journey.

Our four-year MChem curriculum covers essential subjects like molecular synthesis and materials science, physical chemistry and analytical methods, computational chemistry and theoretical approaches, plus biochemistry. The program features an extensive research segment, involving 20 weeks of focused investigation on current scientific challenges within our specialized research teams. Our course offerings include modules designed and evaluated by globally recognized scholars, whose innovative research directly informs their teaching content.

You'll broaden your academic perspective through a year of international study at one of our partner institutions worldwide. During this period, you'll complete advanced chemistry coursework that complements Lancaster's program offerings. Previous student exchanges have included opportunities in North America, Australia, and New Zealand. Please note available destinations may vary annually based on institutional partnerships.

Grade Requirements
A Level ABB

Required Subjects A level grade BB in Chemistry and a further science from, Biology, Computing, Environmental Science, Geography, Human Biology, Information Technology, Mathematics, Physics or Psychology.

GCSE Mathematics grade B or 6, English Language grade C or 4

IELTS 6.5 overall with at least 5.5 in each component.
ToEFL IBT - 87 overall, minimum of 17 in listening, 18 in reading, 17 in speaking and 20 in writing. Cambridge English: Advanced CAE 176 overall with at least 162 in each element.

Other Qualifications
International Baccalaureate 32 points overall with 16 points from the best 3 Higher Level subjects including 6 in Chemistry HL and 6 in a further HL science subject

BTEC May be considered alongside A level Chemistry grade B.
