Lancaster's combined Spanish Studies and Computing program is delivered through a collaboration between the Department of Languages and Cultures and the School of Computing and Communications.
The Spanish Studies component helps you develop advanced language proficiency while providing comprehensive insights into the historical, cultural, social, and political landscapes of Spanish-speaking nations worldwide. The Computing portion emphasizes professional skill-building, with in-depth coursework in software and systems development.
During your first year, you'll examine Spanish language and culture alongside core computer science and software development fundamentals. Additionally, you'll choose a complementary minor subject to enhance your studies.
In your second year, you'll advance your language abilities while delving deeper into the culture, politics, and history of Spanish-speaking regions. You'll also take globally-focused modules that encourage comparative analysis of European and international contexts. These will be paired with technical courses including Databases, Human-Computer Interaction, Networking, and Software Design.
