Lancaster's combined Spanish Studies and Politics program is delivered through a collaboration between the Department of Languages and Cultures and the Department of Politics, Philosophy and Religion.
The Spanish Studies component helps you develop advanced language proficiency while providing comprehensive insights into the historical, cultural, social, and political aspects of Spanish-speaking societies within a global framework.
During your first year, you'll examine Spanish language and culture alongside the foundational Politics module, covering essential topics like liberal democracy theory and practice, globalization, and international security challenges. You'll also have the opportunity to take complementary minor subjects, potentially including another language.
In your second year, you'll enhance your language abilities while delving deeper into Spanish-speaking cultures, politics, and history. You can select internationally focused modules that encourage comparative analysis of European and global contexts. The Politics curriculum offers a diverse selection of specialized courses to choose from.
