This interdisciplinary course involves collaboration between the History Department and the English and Creative Writing Department. You'll choose modules covering historical developments from 300 to 1700 CE, along with related cultural, linguistic, literary, and political aspects spanning Celtic Britain to early modern Europe.
The foundational first-year History course broadens your historical understanding while exploring key events and concepts from antiquity to modernity. You'll learn historical research methods, interpretation techniques, and develop essential skills in academic writing, research, and presentation.
For students wanting to balance English Literature with History studies, the first-year Literature in Crisis module is required.
