Lancaster's History and Politics program is jointly delivered by our History Department and the Department of Politics, Philosophy and Religion. This interdisciplinary approach allows you to cultivate knowledge, political awareness, and specialized skills while studying alongside like-minded peers and academics.
You'll have the flexibility to choose complementary courses from both departments. For instance, you might study US political and cultural history in History while taking Government and Politics of the United States in your Politics curriculum.
Your academic journey begins with foundational courses such as From the Ancient to the Modern: History and Historians, along with Politics in the Modern World.
During your second and third years, you can select from diverse options including Middle East Politics and History, International Relations, Security and Sustainability, Development Politics and Global Transformations, Key Economic Concepts, and Contemporary Political and Philosophical Issues. Additional course details can be found on the PPR department's official website.
