Pursuing a dual degree in Economics and Geography at Lancaster allows you to gain knowledge from specialists in both fields. Instruction is provided collaboratively by faculty from the Lancaster University Management School, consistently ranked among the UK's top ten, and our Geography Department within the renowned Lancaster Environment Centre.
The Economics curriculum explores wealth creation, distribution patterns, and goods/service consumption, while addressing current global challenges. Geography courses examine these issues through lenses of geopolitics, sustainable development, environmental protection, and worldwide interconnectedness.
Your first year includes foundational courses like Principles of Economics and Society and Space - Human Geography. Second-year studies progress to Intermediate Microeconomics, Geographies of Political Economy, and Environment and Society. The final year features an independent research project, mentored by faculty, where you explore a self-selected topic bridging both disciplines. This capstone project demonstrates the research methodologies, critical analysis, and academic writing competencies developed throughout your program.
