Our Physical Education Initial Teacher Education (ITE) program is led by a team of specialized professionals.
You'll become an active member of our vibrant community of physical education specialists, gaining access to exceptional tutor guidance, a premier selection of partner schools, and first-rate mentoring during school placements.
The PE curriculum components will help you reflect on your core beliefs and explore how to apply them in creating student-centered physical education experiences. You'll master evidence-based PE teaching methods that will serve as a strong foundation for your professional journey. Our PE graduates enjoy exceptional employment rates, thanks to both their dedication and our research-driven curriculum that emphasizes inclusive PE instruction.
Subject-focused study days at the university will be taught by accomplished PE practitioners who integrate research into their teaching. Throughout autumn, spring, and summer terms, you'll complete three school placement blocks to hone your teaching skills under the guidance of seasoned educators and mentors.

Qualification Requirements
This course will enable you to become an effective, inclusive and evidence informed teacher. The course is designed to model dynamic, flexible and responsive teaching which you can use in your own practice. You will benefit from two contrasting placements in our committed partnership of schools. The course is designed to allow you to spend 120 days in schools, working with experienced teachers to develop your practice.
You will also benefit from a course that supports you in becoming a research-engaged teacher, who can use evidence to drive improvements in young people's learning and wellbeing.
In addition to gaining Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in accordance with government standards, you will also receive the award of PGCE with 60 credits towards our Master of Research in Education (MRes), which you can continue with beyond your PGCE year.
