As the UK's inaugural Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing program, this course provides gifted and ambitious writers with the opportunity to hone their skills under the guidance of renowned experts. Students will cultivate a distinctive blend of creative and professional abilities throughout this program, preparing them for successful careers as published authors.
Instruction occurs through workshops, individual sessions, and small group settings, with mentorship from active, published authors and peers. Our distinguished alumni include Booker Prize nominee Oyinkan Braithwaite, Bridport Prize recipient Joe Pierson, Dylan Thomas Prize winner Stefan Mohammed, BAFTA-awarded Sarah Woolner, esteemed poet Dom Bury, and acclaimed novelist Faiqa Mansab.

We normally expect applicants to have:
a 2:2 or above honours degree
a sample of creative writing (5,000 words)
a personal statement (1,000 words).
Occasionally, a first degree is not required if the standard of submitted writing is high enough.
All non-UK applicants must meet our English language requirements. For this course it is Academic IELTS of 6.5 overall, with 7.0 in Writing and at least 5.5 in each remaining element.
