Kingston School of Art's MA Graphic Design program adopts a hands-on, research-driven methodology to envision the evolving role of graphic design. This course critically examines traditional notions of designers, redefining them as researchers, collaborators, creators, artists, narrators, educators, writers, innovators, challengers, visionaries, and catalysts for transformation.
We hold high aspirations for our students, committed to expanding the field's horizons through environmentally and socially conscious approaches within an interactive studio environment. Creative risk-taking, playful exploration, and innovative experimentation are encouraged while maintaining scholarly rigor.
Our studio-focused approach celebrates the creative process as a means of generating meaning, producing fresh perspectives for both local and international contexts. Students' varied backgrounds and viewpoints are essential to our mission of redefining graphic design practice.
We associate with SHAPE (Social Sciences, Humanities and the Arts for People and the Economy), a British Academy initiative that highlights these disciplines as vital frameworks for interpreting and enriching human experiences.
