Criminology examines criminal behavior, its prevention, and societal impacts. This interdisciplinary field integrates political science, legal studies, psychology, and sociology to analyze criminalization, crime prevention strategies, and justice systems.
The curriculum covers crime trends and public perceptions worldwide, examines how various punishment methods affect offenders, addresses diversity and bias in legal systems, and analyzes law enforcement authority and organizational culture. Additional topics include juvenile justice, risk assessment technologies, crime reduction strategies, counterterrorism, and national security.
Students gain foundational knowledge of criminological theories and discussions, along with understanding the structures, procedures, and legal frameworks of the criminal justice system in England and Wales.
