Criminology examines criminal behavior, its prevention, and societal impacts. This interdisciplinary field integrates political science, legal studies, psychology, and sociology to analyze criminalization trends, crime prevention methods, and justice systems.
The curriculum covers crime patterns and societal views across different regions, effects of various punishment approaches, diversity challenges in legal systems, and law enforcement dynamics. Additional topics include juvenile justice, risk assessment technologies, security measures against terrorism, and crime reduction strategies.
Students engage with foundational criminological theories and discussions while learning about the operational frameworks and legal structures of the criminal justice system in England and Wales.
