Architecture is a professional field, and this program forms a crucial stage in the RIBA Parts 1, 2, and 3 progression toward qualification. The Architects Registration Board (ARB) sets the requirements for joining the UK Register of Architects. Both ARB and the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) share these standards, and completing this Honors Degree grants Part 1 exemption. Furthermore, RIBA has introduced updated Themes and Values for Architectural Education, emphasizing climate awareness, health and safety, ethical standards, and research proficiency. The course modules align with these principles, blending theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience while fostering transferable and digital skills for diverse career paths.
This program is part of the Department of Landscape and Architecture, one of four departments in the School of Arts, which, along with the Design School and the School of Creative and Cultural Industries, belongs to Kingston School of Art (KSA). Based at the intimate Knights Park campus, it neighbors other creative disciplines within KSA, offering access to exceptional facilities for hands-on creation—a cornerstone of the curriculum, especially in the BA Architecture program. The department is housed on the fourth and fifth floors of the New Extension Building at Knights Park, with KSA workshops on the lower levels. This environment fosters collaboration, discussion, and shared learning among students and faculty.
