The PGCE Physics with Mathematics program at King's equips future educators to develop into reflective, innovative, and inspiring teachers. This is achieved by exploring both the research foundations that shape science education and diverse practical teaching methodologies. The program is delivered by a globally renowned science education team with over 30 years of distinguished research achievements. Key advantages include: King's PGCE programs have received Ofsted's Outstanding rating, partly due to their robust research foundation. During the latest assessment, the department was ranked as London's top education institution for research excellence (REF, 2021). The program maintains collaborative relationships with numerous schools across London and other regions, offering exceptional opportunities to develop teaching skills for diverse student populations. Students gain experience beyond traditional classroom settings through a residential field trip and various activities that leverage London's rich resources for science educators. Among all PGCE graduates, 92% of those seeking teaching positions secured roles as Early Career Teachers (ECTs) in UK and international schools (JISC Graduate Outcomes Survey 2024). Participants can earn 60 Master's-level credits through two assessed coursework assignments - equivalent to one-third of an MA degree - providing significant progress toward a Master's in education. Career prospects: Most graduates enter teaching or related educational fields, with many advancing to department leadership or senior management positions, while others pursue careers in educational administration, advisory services, or inspection roles.
