Our MSc in Mental Health Studies will provide you with comprehensive knowledge in mental health disciplines while allowing deeper exploration of a specific area through both theoretical study and hands-on research. Since its launch in 1992, our program has served both practicing mental health professionals seeking career advancement and students new to professional training. Many entrants hold psychology or related undergraduate degrees, often with prior mental health work experience. Key advantages include: Seven specialized module options across diverse mental health disciplines. Insights from active clinicians, featuring renowned experts from the affiliated South London & Maudsley Hospital (SLaM) and guest specialists. Access to SLaM's established Voluntary Clinical Placements program, the largest NHS Trust initiative of its kind. Opportunities to participate in ongoing research or develop independent projects. Career prospects: Alumni enter diverse mental health professions, including clinical training programs, research roles, and doctoral studies. This degree equips you with essential skills for multiple mental health career paths and prepares you for clinical training applications, research positions, or PhD programs. With strong theoretical foundations, you'll be equally prepared for non-clinical roles, such as advisory positions assisting government agencies with crisis response. Experienced professionals will enhance their career trajectories while gaining research competencies to complement clinical work.
