This program is provided by the Department of Political Economy, concentrating on research about British politics, policy formation, and governance in recent history. We interpret this broadly to encompass local governance, social movements, economic strategies and London's financial sector, alongside national administration, international relations, political organizations, and government departments. Faculty supervisors currently include Dr. Michael Kandiah, Professor Pat Thane, Dr. Andrew Blick, and Professor Roger Mortimore. The Department's Centre for British Politics and Government incorporates the Witness Seminar initiative previously managed by the Institute of Contemporary British History. It also collaborates with History & Policy, led by Dr. Andrew Blick, which promotes improved public policy by bridging historians, policymakers, and media through historical insights.
