You'll empower mothers to express themselves confidently during their pregnancy, delivery, and afterward, while also helping them develop nurturing skills for their newborn.Interdisciplinary educationYour program blends theoretical learning with clinical experience, guided by expert registered midwives. Our teaching incorporates multiple disciplines, allowing you to collaborate with students from medicine, physiotherapy, nursing, pharmacy, and social work - fostering the interprofessional learning essential in clinical environments.Through simulations using mannequins and patient simulators in our Clinical Skills Lab, you'll refine your midwifery skills in preparation for practical placements.Foundation Year optionOur Foundation Year offers an alternative pathway to Keele University, giving you additional preparation for your degree program. Successful completion guarantees progression to your undergraduate studies.This preparatory year strengthens academic abilities, broadens subject knowledge, enhances understanding of higher education, and crucially, boosts self-assurance before beginning your degree.Clinical experienceHalf your program involves clinical placements, with strong partnerships across healthcare providers. Developing practical skills in real healthcare settings will deepen your expertise, paving the way for a rewarding midwifery career.Placements span various locations within 60 miles of Keele, with mentorship from practicing midwives serving as assessors and supervisors.Community placements extend up to 50 miles from hospital bases, including opportunities at Stafford Hospital's Women's Centre.Hospital placements include Royal Stoke Hospital (featuring a level 3 neonatal unit and birth center), Birmingham Women's Hospital, or Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital. Experiences cover antenatal/postnatal wards, delivery suites, early pregnancy units, maternity assessment centers, and transitional care for infants needing extra support.Our dynamic learning environment fosters your growth into a skilled, confident midwife. Academic mentors provide guidance throughout the three-year program, assisting with assessments and any challenges you encounter.Career prospectsMidwives are highly sought-after, with 100% of Keele graduates receiving job offers upon completion. A Level: ABB in three A Levels including B in one Science subject from the Keele Defined Sciences List.
Access to HE Diploma: 128 UCAS points in a Computing, Engineering, Health, Nursing, Medicine, Science, or Sports Access to HE Diploma including Distinction in at least 30 Level 3 credits and Merit in at least 15 Level 3 credits.
BTEC Extended Diploma / National Extended Diploma: DDM in any of the following BTEC Extended Diplomas / National Extended Diplomas: Applied Science, or Health and Social Care.
BTEC National Diploma / Diploma: Distinction and Merit in any BTEC National Diploma / Diploma and B in one Science A Level from the Keele Defined Sciences List; or Distinction and Merit in Applied Science, or Health and Social Care BTEC National Diploma / Diploma and A in any A Level.
BTEC National Extended Certificate / Subsidiary Diploma: Distinction in any BTEC National Extended Certificate / Subsidiary Diploma and BB in two A Levels including B in one Science subject from the Keele Defined Sciences List, or Distinction in Applied Human Biology, Applied Science, or Health and Social Care BTEC National Extended Certificate / Subsidiary Diploma and BB in two A Levels.
International Baccalaureate Diploma: 655 in three Higher Levels including 5 in one Science subject from the Keele Defined Sciences List at Higher Level, or 32 points including 5 in one Higher Level Science subject from the Keele Defined Sciences List.
IELTS Academic and IELTS Indicator: 6.0 with 5.5 in all components.
TOEFL IBT: 79 with 17 (writing), 17 (listening), 18 (reading) and 20 (speaking).
