Bristol boasts a distinguished standing in political science and international relations education, providing students with a stimulating academic journey full of thought-provoking challenges. The program explores both national political systems and global interactions among states, societies, and individuals. Four mandatory first-year units establish a strong disciplinary foundation, with increasing specialization options in subsequent years. The curriculum culminates in an extensive selection of advanced modules reflecting faculty expertise across diverse areas like political philosophy, global affairs, economic policy, British and American government, gender studies, and war/peace studies. A strong research focus runs throughout, beginning with foundational training in year one and culminating in an independent thesis project during the final year. Students may also apply for a semester abroad at one of our international partner institutions.
