Overview Risk has emerged as a fundamental concern in contemporary society. Heightened environmental awareness and various catastrophic events have drawn attention to the dangers and uncertainties associated with diverse sectors—from offshore drilling to aviation and rail transport, from sports venue design to chemical plant operations and ecological preservation. Modern risk and reliability assessment methods now span both safety-specific applications and broader contexts. These approaches support updated safety regulations and apply to numerous fields where risk management and system reliability are critical, including environmental protection and other complex systems. The MSc/PG Diploma in Safety, Risk and Reliability Engineering offers comprehensive training in these methodologies and their practical implementation across real-world scenarios. The program equips students with both qualitative and quantitative expertise in risk analysis while developing applied problem-solving skills. Participants will also explore cutting-edge analytical methods, such as computational risk modeling and reliability simulations. Prospective students can connect with peers, alumni, and industry professionals through our LinkedIn group "Safety Courses at Heriot-Watt." Note that joining requires owner approval, which may take 1-2 weeks. Flexible Study Options This program offers Online Learning for professionals balancing work or personal commitments.
