Heriot-Watt University boasts a thriving and expanding Applied Geoscience program that works in tandem with its Petroleum Engineering expertise and research initiatives. Current key areas include the Shell Centre for Exploration Geoscience, established in 2013 at the Edinburgh Campus, and the NERC Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Oil and Gas. This doctoral program is spearheaded by Heriot-Watt in collaboration with a network of 17 UK universities, two NERC affiliates (the British Geological Survey and National Oceanography Centre), and ten industry partners.
