Led by Professor George Stylios, the Research Institute for Flexible Materials (RIFleX) conducts cutting-edge research at the intersection of textiles and clothing. This includes developing techniques for assessing textile aesthetics and studying fabric mechanics. The institute also pioneers computer-assisted 3D modeling and visualization methods, connecting these to human body and facial modeling to recreate garment drape digitally. Beyond MPhil/PhD research possibilities, the School maintains a distinctive historical textile collection in its Archive Resource Center and supports investigations into art and design history.
