This program equips students for careers in malting, brewing, or distilling, as well as research roles. The curriculum spans diverse topics including brewing science, chemical engineering, business studies, and production management. The rapidly growing craft sector in both brewing and distilling demands professionals skilled in contemporary instrumentation, and this degree provides the necessary expertise for industry success. The distance learning option runs concurrently with on-campus instruction, with courses offered from September to December and January to May. Lectures are broadcast live and archived on our digital learning platform alongside supplementary resources. Most courses emphasize assignment-based evaluation, featuring 1-2 coursework submissions per semester plus a comprehensive final project. Distance learners may visit campus at any time and can access practical training opportunities. All participants begin in the PG Diploma track but may exit with: - A course completion certificate (after 1-3 courses) - PG Certificate (after 4 courses) - PG Diploma (after 8 courses) - MSc (after 8 courses with ≥50% average plus research project) Program duration: Minimum two years. PG Diploma typically takes 2-4 years, with an additional 3 years for the MSc research component. Professional accreditation: Graduates may qualify for exemptions from the IBD's Diploma in Brewing or Distilling when pursuing the IBD Master Brewer or Master Distiller certifications later in their careers.
If English is not the applicant's first language a minimum of IELTS 6.5 or equivalent is required with all elements passed at 6.0 or above.
