The BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering and Energy Engineering program fosters innovative thinking to address contemporary challenges through cutting-edge technical solutions. This four-year course builds on core engineering principles while introducing specialized energy studies, environmental impact evaluation, and management strategies. You'll develop expertise to address complex professional challenges in energy production and consumption, preparing to make informed decisions regarding energy and environmental matters.This undergraduate program provides a robust foundation in both Mechanical and Energy Engineering, empowering you to drive society toward sustainability by developing cleaner energy solutions and enhancing efficiency. The curriculum covers thermodynamics and fluid mechanics, examining electricity generation from geothermal/nuclear sources via turbines, and evaluating heat pumps as superior alternatives to traditional gas heating systems. You'll apply your knowledge to innovate solutions for transportation efficiency, aircraft performance, medical engineering advancements, and nanotechnology breakthroughs.Throughout your studies, you'll expand your professional network through industry visits and an optional work placement, which can lead to a Diploma in Industrial Training (DIT). The program emphasizes practical application through hands-on projects, ensuring you acquire industry-relevant skills that enhance your employability upon graduation.As a mechanical engineering student, you'll master the design, development, and optimization of mechanical systems and components. The comprehensive curriculum covers essential topics including mechanics, electrical engineering, mathematics, materials science, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, sustainable development, and renewable energy technologies.Your education will focus on sustainability principles, teaching you to develop solutions that balance environmental responsibility, economic feasibility, and social impact. Standard entry requirements - Highers AABB (including Mathematics and Physics with one at A and other at least B), A-Levels BBC - ABB (including Mathematics and Physics BB), Int. Baccalaureate 29 points (including Mathematics and Physics at Higher Level 5) BTEC DMM in Engineering, HNC A in graded unit (in relevant HNC including Engineering Mathematics 1, 2 and 3). Minimum entry requirements - Highers BBBC (including B in Mathematics and B in either Physics or Engineering Science), A-Levels BCC (including Mathematics and Physics with one at B). Year 2 - Advanced Highers AB (including Mathematics and Physics plus Highers at AABB), A-Levels AAB (including Mathematics and Physics with one at A), Int. Baccalaureate 34 points (including Mathematics and Physics at Higher Level 6), HND AA in graded unit (Must be relevant subject including Engineering Maths 1, 2, 3 and 4), Global College Successful completion of our Engineering with Accelerator Programme. Year 3 - Entry to Year 3 is only available via our associate student partnership college route. IELTS Academic 6.0 with no score lower than 5.5. TOEFL 79 (including reading 18, listening 17, speaking 20, and writing 21).
