In today's intricate world where organisations must address constantly shifting human needs, design has emerged as a crucial instrument for driving strategic change. Transformation Design specialises in change-driven design methodologies that tackle complex societal and systemic challenges. This course examines techniques for navigating complexity and collaborating with stakeholders through participatory approaches that catalyse transformation. Academic research and instruction inform practical projects blending strategic vision with hands-on experimentation to develop future solutions for sectors like healthcare, education, urban development and governance. Based at The Glasgow School of Art's Highlands Campus, the programme enables exploration of innovative design applications concerning civic engagement, socio-technological advancement and policy formation. Students cultivate individual viewpoints on Transformation Design while redefining their professional practice within intricate social, economic and governmental frameworks.
Participants also gain access to knowledge exchange with peers from top global universities during the yearly Winter School. This seasonal gathering unites students and academics from world-class institutions for a fortnight of seminars, practical sessions and professional connections, offering a glimpse into design as an international career path.
