This physics degree program emphasizes astrophysical phenomena, covering everything from celestial bodies to the vast structures of the cosmos. Astrophysics serves as an exceptional testing ground for physical principles, especially in extreme environments like pulsars, quasars, and black holes. Our astronomy courses are enhanced by access to an observatory, planetarium, and advanced telescope equipment. Students will discover how contemporary physics forms the foundation of cosmic comprehension. The Institute of Physics officially recognizes this program. Numerous faculty members contribute to groundbreaking global initiatives, including CERN's Large Hadron Collider and the LIGO gravitational wave detector. Student-led organizations, PhySoc and AstroSoc, provide additional engagement opportunities within the department.
