The British Psychological Society states that health psychology focuses on scientifically examining the psychological aspects of health, illness, and healthcare systems.
Its purpose involves utilizing health psychology principles to advance health promotion, refine healthcare delivery and policies, prevent diseases and disabilities, and improve outcomes for patients with medical conditions.
As an academic discipline, Health Psychology represents the most rapidly expanding area of Psychology in the United Kingdom. With growing aging populations and rising obesity rates leading to chronic health issues, the need for behavioral health solutions and wellbeing programs (and consequently, Health Psychologists) is expected to continue growing.
This program aims to provide learners with essential expertise and competencies to develop into skilled health psychology practitioners. The doctoral curriculum aligns with BPS accreditation criteria for both Stage 1 and Stage 2 Health Psychology training, fulfilling the qualifications necessary for Practitioner Psychologist registration.
