Mental Health Nurses help individuals struggling with mental health challenges by fostering personal strengths, emotional wellness, and self-sufficiency. This program highlights modern methods for assisting and treating those with mental health conditions. For half the course duration, students gain hands-on training through diverse placements across NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, spanning community healthcare, hospital settings, and voluntary organizations. Throughout these practical experiences, students engage in key nursing tasks such as patient assessments and delivering specialized care aligned with their chosen nursing focus. The program also offers chances for international placements at different stages.
Graduates who complete the program qualify to register as Nurses with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). It equips students to become skilled, recovery-oriented Mental Health Nurses capable of working in various environments, including hospitals, home care, addiction treatment centers, forensic mental health units, elderly mental health services (including dementia care), and youth mental health programs (CAMHs). Career prospects also exist within private mental health providers.
