Learning Disability nursing focuses on collaborating with individuals and families to enhance independence, foster wellbeing, and encourage social participation. This involves actively supporting positive behavioral changes and lifestyle choices that lead to optimal health results. The program emphasizes addressing the comprehensive needs of those with learning disabilities. Key topics covered include modern approaches to healthcare delivery, community involvement, personalized care strategies, social inclusion, tackling health disparities, legal frameworks, forensic care, evaluation and planning, research methodologies, and evidence-based interventions. Students will gain hands-on experience through diverse clinical placements across healthcare and social service environments. GCU's digital learning platform and advanced simulation facilities offer adaptable, cutting-edge educational approaches, course materials, and evaluation methods. Clinical placements are available across NHS Health Boards and charitable organizations in west and central Scotland.

Scottish Higher: BBBC or equivalent including Higher in essay-based subject plus Nat 5 Maths or Application of Maths and one science
A Level: BCC or equivalent plus GCSE Maths, English and one science
Minimum entry requirement

A Level: CCC or equivalent including GCSE Maths, English and one science
An IELTS  overall score of 7.0 is required, with a minimum of 6.5 in writing and 7.0 in the other three components.
