Psychology is emerging as a crucial field for athletes seeking a competitive advantage. This program explores how mental processes influence athletic performance and drive. Our Psychology and Sport and Physical Activity departments have collaborated to create this BPS-accredited course, which provides the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) - the essential first step toward becoming a chartered psychologist or sports psychologist. Through practical learning experiences, you'll identify psychological obstacles to physical activity, conduct interviews and observations for case studies, and examine how exercise impacts mental health. The program establishes core psychological principles to support your professional development.
Career prospects
This psychology education provides versatile skills for the sports, health, and fitness sectors, though additional qualifications may be required for certain roles. As the foundation for becoming a chartered sports psychologist, postgraduate study is necessary for specialization. Many graduates apply their transferable skills in diverse fields like marketing, healthcare, and education. Our alumni have pursued successful careers with organizations including Blackpool FC, London Broncos Rugby League, and Leeds Teaching Hospital.
