Physical education offers numerous advantages that extend far beyond fitness, fostering teamwork, self-assurance, leadership abilities, and communication skills. We believe students should have PE instructors capable of sparking enthusiasm and encouraging them to boost their physical activity and social competencies, uncover their athletic talents, and gain the knowledge needed for lifelong wellness - precisely what we strive to instill in our program graduates.
Our PGCE Secondary Physical Education is a dynamic, hands-on program collaboratively designed by university educators and school-based PE experts, equipping you to teach diverse learners across all secondary levels. Special attention is given to national curriculum areas including team sports, gymnastics, dance, athletics, swimming, and outdoor adventure activities.
Upon completing the PGCE, participants earn a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from Durham University along with Qualified Teacher Status recommendation. The QTS accreditation is provided by Newcastle University and conferred by the Department of Education.
Our program combines rigorous academic study with practical classroom experience, laying the foundation for your teaching career. We integrate the Core Content Framework throughout the PGCE to ensure seamless transition into the Early Career Framework that supports new teachers during their initial two professional years.
University sessions center on weekly teaching themes, complemented by subject-specific instruction delivered jointly by university faculty and partner school specialists.
