The Master of Arts in Research Methods (Behavioural Science) is an interdisciplinary program offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences & Health, bringing together various university departments to create a customized curriculum examining human behavior through research methodologies. This program particularly suits students aiming to advance to PhD studies in behavioral science or pursue careers as behavioral scientists or research psychologists. It also benefits those interested in applied behavioral science fields.
Aspiring research psychologists require advanced postgraduate research training. The program, coordinated through the Durham Research Methods Centre, emphasizes comprehensive research methods education, covering both quantitative and qualitative approaches. A significant portion (one-third) of the program focuses on dissertation work, which can explore any psychology-related developmental topic. Course modules combine general and specialized content, introducing students to key concepts and methodological frameworks in behavioral science and social sciences.
