Mathematics and Statistics offers an engaging blend of disciplines perfect for curious thinkers with solid IT abilities and a passion for uncovering trends in data. This BSc program merges rigorous mathematical training with cutting-edge statistical and machine learning techniques, equipping you for today's data-centric careers.

By selecting mathematics, you'll learn from seasoned mathematicians and statisticians with extensive industry and academic backgrounds. The Department hosts multiple research teams specializing in both theoretical and practical mathematics. With many instructors actively conducting research, you'll frequently connect coursework to innovative developments in the field.

Your studies will take place in modern, custom-designed facilities tailored to the Department's educational needs. The first year provides a comprehensive introduction to pure and applied mathematics, statistics, and probability, establishing a robust base for advanced study in later years. The curriculum shifts toward greater statistical emphasis in the second year.

In your final year, you'll undertake either an individual research project exploring theoretical concepts or applied challenges, or an internship project focused on statistical and machine learning solutions for real-world problems. Both options may involve partnerships with external organizations, bringing practical relevance to your academic experience.

You also have the option to extend your degree to four years by adding a placement year or studying abroad.
