Mathematics surrounds us in everyday life. Whether it's finance, construction, technology, or programming, math serves as the backbone of our data-centric society. Learning mathematics cultivates analytical abilities, logical reasoning, and problem-solving expertise—qualities highly sought after by employers and essential for diverse career paths.
By selecting mathematics, you'll learn from dedicated mathematicians who are eager to demonstrate the elegance of their field while bringing extensive research experience in both theoretical and practical mathematics, including statistics. With many instructors engaged in cutting-edge research, the program uniquely connects academic study with real-world mathematical exploration.
The BSc Mathematics program is based in a state-of-the-art facility, specifically designed to support the educational and research needs of students in the Department.
The initial year provides a comprehensive overview of pure and applied mathematics, statistics, and probability, establishing a strong base for advanced study in later years. In the second year, the curriculum becomes more adaptable, allowing you to specialize in a particular discipline or maintain a broad mathematical focus.
Final-year students can choose from approximately 20 specialized modules, with the program culminating in an in-depth research project on a mathematical topic of their choice.
Additionally, you may opt to extend your degree to four years by incorporating a professional placement or an international study year.
