The impacts of climate change and how humanity addresses this challenge will shape the future for billions worldwide, yet surprisingly few undergraduate programs comprehensively examine this critical issue.
This distinctive Climate Science BSc takes an integrative approach, studying both contemporary and historical climate shifts and their effects on natural and human systems. The program delivers a comprehensive climate science education while preparing students to guide society in addressing this pressing crisis.
Our adaptable program structure empowers students. Beginning with core foundations, it offers progressively specialized options, enabling you to tailor your studies to specific interests. Recognizing the expansive nature of climate science, the degree establishes strong competencies across various climate-related disciplines throughout Earth's history.
First-year studies introduce climate change concepts while building knowledge of terrestrial processes and resources.
During Year 2, students explore isotopic methods and can select modules examining glaciers, carbon cycling, paleoclimatology, and techniques for reconstructing historical climate patterns.
The final year focuses on Earth Systems, with optional studies in climate impacts on coastal/mountain regions, atmospheric dynamics, historical climate effects on civilizations, or environmental geochemistry. Students also complete an independent research dissertation investigating an advanced climate science topic of their choosing.
