The BEng in Civil Engineering is a rigorous three-year General Engineering program crafted to equip you with the expertise needed to enter engineering teams upon graduation. This program aligns with the four-year Durham MEng, allowing for course transfers until the conclusion of the second year.
During the initial two years, the BEng curriculum mirrors the comprehensive engineering foundation of the MEng degree. Specialization in Civil Engineering occurs in the third year. The program's design provides exceptional adaptability—you might begin on a civil engineering track but opt to switch to electronic engineering after your second year. We prioritize giving students the autonomy to make well-informed choices. The BEng sets you up for a dynamic career in contemporary engineering, with the agility to adapt to evolving technologies.
Opportunities may arise to study abroad or undertake an industrial placement as an additional year between the second and third years. A standout feature is the final-year dissertation project, where you'll collaborate individually with an academic specialist to tackle a technical engineering problem.
