The BSc in Visual Effects was designed with industry input to provide skills relevant to VFX production across modern media platforms. VFX techniques are now widely used in television, movies, animated features, gaming, and advertising campaigns. This diversity is mirrored in the curriculum, which draws from multiple fields including cinema, SFX, animation, and 3D design to match the interdisciplinary nature of the subject. The program fosters creative development while teaching professional-grade software for producing original 3D content for film and TV.As a crucial component of the multi-billion pound entertainment sector, mastering VFX techniques offers significant career opportunities. Alumni have secured positions as compositors, matte painters, color graders, and post-production specialists.Course HighlightsStudents will explore various aspects including fundamental VFX and compositing, 3D modeling and animation, motion tracking and capture, along with rigging and compositing techniques.Access our specialized resources including sound recording studios, professional radio production facilities, dedicated film studios with multi-camera setups, and chroma key stages.Our VFX labs feature high-performance workstations running industry software like Maya, Nuke, Unreal Engine, After Effects, Houdini, Substance Painter, and DaVinci Resolve. A typical offer is 104 UCAS points from at least two A-levels, or equivalent or
BTEC National Diploma/ Extended Diploma at DMM
Plus five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and Maths or equivalent.

Pass in the QAA accredited Access to HE. English GCSE required as a separate qualification as equivalency is not accepted within the Access qualification.
We will normally require students to have had a break from full-time education before undertaking the Access course or
International Baccalaureate: 24+ points or
T Levels Merit

We welcome applications from mature students with non-standard qualifications and recognise all other equivalent and international qualifications.
If English is not your first language then an IELTS score of 6.0 overall with a minimum of 5.5 in each component (or equivalent) is essential.
