This flexible degree program takes an interdisciplinary and engaging approach to education, offering students a structure to examine crucial public health matters in modern Britain. Alongside examining various theoretical viewpoints and applying these concepts to present-day public health issues, learners can customize their studies to align with professional goals, develop self-assurance, and gain specialized abilities valued in the job market.
Throughout the course, you'll investigate and analyze diverse aspects shaping today's healthcare landscape, particularly concentrating on elements influencing wellness. The curriculum covers highly pertinent subjects such as: psychological aspects of health, sociological perspectives on health, population health strategies, wellness promotion techniques, healthcare administration, and disparities in health outcomes. In your final year, you can select specialized modules like Substance Use and Addiction Studies; Psychological Wellness, or Marginalization and Health.
The third year features a Professional Practice in Health, Wellness and Community module that helps students cultivate capabilities to excel in healthcare and social service roles. This component includes self-assessment to recognize current competencies and growth areas. Additionally, you may undertake an optional 80-hour placement with Leicester's health-related organizations to boost employability (availability dependent).
