This degree program prepares graduates to address the rising need for professionals skilled in computer networks, security, and programming, driven by the expanding use of Next-Generation Network (NGN) technologies like VoIP, as well as modern network architectures such as SDN and NFV, where networking hardware becomes programmable cloud-based components.
Alongside fundamental computer science and cybersecurity coursework, this program features specialized networking modules aligned with the latest Cisco certification standards, developed in collaboration with our Cisco partners. These industry-focused, certification-driven modules ensure graduates acquire the skills needed to enhance their career prospects.
The curriculum's flexible design also allows graduates to pursue roles in traditional and emerging fields like computer science, software engineering, or cybersecurity. Professional development within an industry framework is a key focus, supported by strong ties to BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT.
Duration: Three years full-time, four years with placement
A typical offer is 112 UCAS points from at least two A-levels or equivalent or BTEC National Diploma/ Extended Diploma at DMM Plus five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and Mathematics or equivalent. Alternative qualifications include Pass in the QAA accredited Access to HE. English and Mathematics GCSE required as a separate qualification as equivalency is not accepted within the Access qualification. We will normally require students to have had a break from full-time education before undertaking the Access course International Baccalaureate: 26+ points Foundation Year in Computing: Pass Foundation, and progression is at the discretion of the programme leader. Refer to the Foundation team for further guidance. English language – If English is not your first language we require an English language level of IELTS 6.0 with 5.5 in each component or equivalent.
