Course Summary
This program offers a comprehensive introduction to Applied Computing, enabling students to focus on specific interest areas. It builds technical expertise in computing fields such as agile development, mobile app creation, cybersecurity, data analysis, database architecture, and business analytics while fostering analytical abilities essential for navigating intricate IT landscapes. The curriculum incorporates insights from the globally recognized Centre for Computing and Social Responsibility (CCSR), integrating ethical considerations and technology's societal impact across all course components.
The program stresses professional standards within the IT sector, maintaining close ties with BCS (The Chartered Institute for IT). Participants will engage with contemporary industry-standard methodologies, applications, and technologies while mastering core theoretical foundations.
Program Length: Three years full-time study, four years including work placement
Five GCSEs at grade C or above, including English and Mathematics, plus one of the following: Normally 112 UCAS points from at least two A-levels or equivalent or BTEC National Diploma/ Extended Diploma at DMM or Pass in the QAA accredited Access to HE course. English and Maths GCSE required as a separate qualification as equivalency is not accepted within the Access qualification. We will normally require students to have had a break from full-time education before undertaking the Access course or International Baccalaureate: 26+ points or T Levels Merit. If English is not your first language then an IELTS score of 6.0 overall with a minimum of 5.5 in each component (or equivalent) is essential.
