Gain insights into textual analysis and discuss literature's evolving societal impact across different eras. You'll learn from distinguished scholars who will help you develop confident self-expression and polished writing skills. Our department excels in research covering medieval to modern literature, linguistics, creative writing, and digital humanities.

The modern languages option allows you to study Chinese Mandarin, French, or Spanish alongside your English literature degree. This includes beginner or intermediate language courses, featuring two weekly language sessions plus cultural studies. The cultural component explores the history, traditions, political systems, and literary works associated with your chosen language. In your final year, you can specialize by selecting career-focused language courses, such as business language studies, to align with your professional aspirations.
