Introduction

Dr Simon Perril and Dr Siobhan Logan discuss the advantages of pursuing Creative Writing studies at DMU.
Join our Creative Writing program to discover your unique style, hone your abilities, and infuse meaning into every sentence. The curriculum incorporates thought-provoking themes, allowing you to enhance your expertise in various forms including fiction, poetry, memoirs, graphic novels, screenplays, nonfiction, audio scripts, performance texts, visual poetry, and digital media writing.

You'll explore the interplay between text, visuals, and audio, graduating not just as a writer but as a creator of professional-quality publications. Our program includes vocal training to help you become a confident public speaker by graduation.

DMU offers combined degree options, pairing Creative Writing with Drama, Film Studies, or Journalism. The curriculum is split evenly between Creative Writing and your chosen complementary field. This interdisciplinary approach keeps your writing dynamic through diverse influences while expanding your professional skill set.
